CD2....

Hello beloved readers!

Today was my CD2 bloodwork and U/S and my lab values were so much better!!  I guess last cycle was just an all around mess due to the BCP's that my body hates!!

My labs today showed:

LH:  5.4
FSH:  4.5
Estrogen:  60-something I think....

I am pretty psyched because those are totally normal numbers!!  Yay!!  My ultrasound looked good too -- lining was 5 and each ovary had about 8 follies of normal size for CD2.  Tomorrow I'll be picking up my Clomid from Super Target and beginning what I hope will be a really positive cycle with a happy ending!  :)

In other news....my amazing wife's birthday is today!  I thank God every day that she is mine.... I have never met a more internally and externally beautiful person.... I'm a lucky girl....

And in other cool news....my cousin and his wife had their first baby today!  A little girl named Kate!

All around a pretty darn good day!!  :)

"I am Spoticus!"

Well, maybe not quite as dramatic as the 1960's Stanley Kubrick film, but exciting nonetheless!   Ha!  Yes, that's right faithful readers, AF is right around the corner getting ready to wreak havoc on the upcoming work week....yippee!  I expect her to be here in full glory by Tuesday or so, so the cycle will begin anew!  Hopefully this time it will proceed appropriately and we can give it a go at the baby-making.  :)

Speaking of which, the wife proposed an exciting game for all of my blog fans and beloved lurkers.... "NAME OUR SPERM DONOR"...lol.

We are hoping you gals/guys can help us out and find an appropriate name for our donor so that we can make the experience not quite so anonymous!  Maybe we can inform the RE clinic staff of our donor's new "name" and when we go for our inseminations, we can proudly walk up to the check-in counter and tell them we're here to retrieve a vial of our friend "Alan" or "Bob".   OK...just kidding about the second part, but we did think it was pretty funny to play name the donor, so hopefully you all will too!  I'll post the winner on my next blog entry...I'm sure you all can hardly wait!

So, here's some background on Mr. Wonderful....

Brown hair/Blue eyes
Around 6 ft. tall
About 160 lbs.  (Skinny bastard probably eats anything he damn wants and doesn't gain a pound...lol)
Spanish/Scottish
Light skin tone
He is currently in the military.
Enjoys sports, reading, and apparently jerking off in little cups for money. :)

Whatcha think?  Ideas?

Hope everyone had a great weekend!!!

All Hail....Mighty and Powerful Ovulator

Hello to my 6 faithful readers in Blogville!  Just wanted to post a quick update....I had my progesterone level checked today, allegedly CD 19, and it was 6.7.  They said that number indicates I ovulated about 3 days ago, so that means the Clomid worked!  Timing was bad this cycle, but at least the meds grew me an egg (or eggs)!  Yay!  So...I'm supposed to call the RE when the red crusader shows up and start the ultrasound, bloodwork, Clomid cycle over again!  Hopefully with some better timing and a positive pregnancy test in April!  :)

In other aspects of life, things are going pretty well.  Spring is beginning to show itself here in NC, so that's been a nice change!   The pups have an appointment on Friday with the dreaded veterinarian...ick...  I'm looking forward to it almost as much as they are (note sarcasm).  My darling little Madeline, the 9 year old miniature wirehaired dachshund insists on embarassing me each and every time we go to the vet.  Without fail, and no matter how many times she "does her business" before we arrive, she conjures up the most revolting and putrid diarrhea possible and deposits it on the floor of the vet office mere minutes after entering.  It is so horrific that on more than one occasion, the staff of the vet clinic has had to light candles to "deal" with it!   So humiliating!!  Perhaps she creates her masterpiece in anticipation of the vet bill....God only knows the vet bill is usually high enough for me to want to create a little pile of my own on their floor...whew.... things to look forward to at the end of the week....sigh.... :)

Nope...not this month...

Well today kinda sucked....I went in for my CD 12 scan and there were a few follies that looked to be growing. I had 2 14's, 1 13, and a couple 12's, so I thought all was good....until I got a call from the RE's office that my progesterone is too high for them to feel comfortable doing a donor sperm IUI cycle.  I don't completely understand what that means, but I'm guessing they think that my eggs aren't developed enough to trigger and my progesterone is too high for them to feel comfortable in us trying an IUI and wasting $400 in sperm.  I guess I should be thankful they aren't letting us waste our money, but I am disappointed we won't be able to try this month.  Hopefully things will be different next cycle...

My oral surgeon appt. went OK.  The doc seems pretty nice and he said while my wisdom teeth do need to come out, it's not an emergency situation, so I scheduled an appointment for the end of April.  All I can say is, they better give me A LOT of drugs....

Next Step: Egg Check

Tomorrow morning, at the ass-crack of dawn, is the official "egg check"! I'm so excited to see what's been growing in there! I'm really hoping the Clomid worked and grew us some nice plump, perfect little eggs that will soon join with some of the super manly sperm we ordered!! I'll let you all know...I'm sure you're waiting with baited breath! LOL

On another note, I have another super exciting appointment tomorrow -- a consultation with Dr. Yankum. Yep...looks like the old wisdom teeth are going to have to bite the dust :(. Honestly I am less nervous about the possibility of child birth than I am about the removal of my wisdom teeth. Ugh... I'll let you all know how that goes too....

All in all...fun day comin' up!! Hope everyone in blogland is doing well!!

Day 3 Results Are In! Secret Decoder Ring Needed!

Ok...so since I'm new to this, and apparently the weekend staff at the RE clinic is nowhere near as helpful as the weekday staff, I have no idea if my results are good, bad, or indifferent! So...I'm hoping one of my faithful readers can help de-mystify the results for me!

My Day 3 labs showed:

FSH: 7.23
LH: 11.3
Estrogen: 89.6 (thinking estrogen may be slightly elevated due to the fact that I took an "active" BCP on Thursday night and AF started on Friday. I had only taken 14 of the 24 "active" BCP's when AF arrived unexpectedly. Wondering if I have excess estrogen in my system leftover from the BCP's.)

Ultrasound showed:

Stripe: 4
Ovaries: Hurried, slightly rude doctor dude said "5, less than 15 - on both sides"

I'm guessing everything must have been normal, because they're letting me start 5 days of 100 mg Clomid, but I have no clue if these numbers are positive or just average or what!

Any help from Blogland would be appreciated!! Hope everyone is having a fantastic weekend!! :)

Comments Fixed!

Hi All! Didn't realize my "comments" function wasn't working on my old blog template! I'm sure you all had so much to say...lol. Anywho....it's fixed now, so feel free to comment away! The new template might not be as "purdy" as the last one, but at least this one works! :)

CD1....The Journey Begins....

Well....my body still hates BCP's and has punished me with my period 1 week early....fantastic! Ha! Oh well...glad the swimmers arrived on Wednesday, because apparently our timeline has just been moved up a little! I'll be getting probed and having blood drawn on Sunday to see if I'm good to go on the Clomid. Let the fun begin...I already warned my lovely wife that one of the possible side effects is uncontrollable bitchiness, to which she suggested we communicate via text messages and emoticons for cycle days 3-9....LOL. The support is overwhelming.... ;)

On a side note.....I'm so excited to have 3 blog followers!! Welcome all!! I will try to keep all three of you as entertained as possible! Ha!

I'll post again on Sunday and let everyone know what's shakin' in my uterus....I'm sure you'll all barely be able to sleep between now and then due to the excitement. Try to contain yourselves... :)

Bad....bad...little blogger...

Yikes...so much for blogging on a consistent basis....it's been 2+ weeks! Sorry to all of my followers...although at this point I think I am follower-less :(. Starting to feel like I'm back in high school eating lunch in my chorus teachers room 'cause no one wanted to be my friend....sigh...another topic for another post....LOL.

So time marches on and so does our journey in TTC land! Here's what went on during our brief commercial break...

* Prometrium went well and AF arrived even before I was completely finished with the pills! Yippee!

* I started taking the dreaded BCP's...but luckily have had no side effects so far! Yay!

* I scheduled and underwent my HSG, but not before practically having a nervous breakdown worrying about it beforehand! Ha! A note to all of those out there who are facing an impending HSG: Get a good doctor, take some good drugs (I had Valium and some Tylenol), and don't worry about it! I read at least 100 internet postings about how HORRIBLE and PAINFUL it would be and I had myself so worked into a frenzy that I think I lost about 5 lbs. due to my "nervous stomach"...HA! It was a breeze! Some mild cramping, but nothing worse than what comes with AF, and it was over in about 5-10 mins! And the best news is....the tubes are in great shape and totally clear!! Our doc said they look "textbook perfect"....I have to say this made me proud! Ha! I knew I could grow a nice pair of tubes! ;)

* So when we arrived home, we promptly ordered 4 units of the best, most manly and fierce swimmers on the planet from Fairfax! The donor is a military guy, so I can only imagine that these spermies will each come equipped with tiny sperm Humvees and GPS targeted on the egg or eggs that roll down those perfect tubes of mine....heeheehee....a girl can dream right?

Anyways -- so that's where we're at right now. Papa-cicles will arrive at our clinic next Wednesday and lay in wait until mid-March for our "big day". Can we say "Thank God" for a RE clinic with its own storage facility that stores for FREE if you're an active patient?? I love our RE clinic!!

And with that positive note, I'd also like to send some good thoughts and prayers to our good friend Carey, who recommended the wonderful RE doc to us and has been doing battle with the infertility demons for a few years now :(. She lost one of her twins today and I can't imagine the sadness she and her partner are feeling. If anyone out there is reading this, please keep my friend in your thoughts and prayers as she fights to keep baby "B" safe and cozy in her belly for the next 4 months!! You can do it girl! Our future baby is going to need a friend!! :)

A Little Bit of Good News

When I went to see my RE this past time, she did a bunch of blood work and tested my AMH (anti-Mullerian hormone) to see how my egg reserve was doing. It can also be an indicator of severity of PCOS. Levels less than 1 are not good and are indicative of low fertility due to low egg reserve, usually seen in older women. Levels over 3.5 are indicative of PCOS and studies suggest that people with levels greater than 3.5 are more at risk for developing cysts and ovarian hyperstimulation when fertility meds are used. My level came back at 2.25, which is good and suggests that I might not have PCOS, or if I do have PCOS, it might be a fairly mild case! :) Yay....always good to get some good news!

In other news...I'm on day 5 of 10 of the Prometrium and already I feel so much better on it than last month when I took Provera! Maybe the RE was right and Prometrium does work better because it's natural instead of the synthetic Provera. Whatever the difference is caused by, it's A-OK by me -- I'm not nearly as bloated, bitchy, and exhausted! My wife appreciates this....LOL. Thanks Prometrium! :)

The Road to the Baby Boo...

Sooo....part of the reason I started this blog is to document our journey to "Mommyhood"! B and I have been together for 6 1/2 years and we're ready to start a family! We've found a fantastic doctor (reproductive endo) and we had our first appointment last week. I have a fairly mild case of PCOS, but it complicates the situation a tiny bit since I'm not "normal"....whatever the Hell that is right?!? lol

Anywho...our doctor came up with a plan for the next 2 months before our first IUI, and the plan starts tomorrow!

Here's what we've planned out....

* Jan. 20-30: Prometrium
* After AF visits, start 1 month of BCP's
* Schedule HSG for February (not looking forward to this, but doc wanted to check my tubes and make sure IUI's weren't in vain)
* After AF visits again, start Clomid
* Blood work and US's in March (not sure how much bloodwork/ultrasounds -- I think I started to black out at this point)
* All leading up to our first (and God-willing last) IUI mid-March!!

We're going to be using donor sperm....obviously.... :) So now we've begun the task of sifting through donors and trying to decide what's important! We think we've found a good one, but we'll see....new papa-cicles are being added to the database all the time :). Ah....such a romantic process....lol....riiiight!!

Welcome To My Blog!

Ok...so what do people write for their first blog posting?? I think an "All About Me" section would be incredibly boring so maybe I'll just start out with a quick and embarrassing story from my day....

We'll call this story.... Touched By A Tranny....

I have just recently acquired potentially the crappiest job possible at my company. My previous department has been "downsized", so in order to maintain employment, I moved to the scheduling department. Talk about boring....needless to say, I'm feverishly searching for another job....

So I had to call up a patient to set up an appointment, and it went something like this:

LOW VOICE: Hello?
ME: Hi, this is Susan from (insert my company) is this Mr. X?
LOW VOICE: Um...no, this is his wife Mrs. X.
ME: Oh, I'm sorry....is your husband at home?
LOW VOICE: Is this about the doctor appointment?
ME: Yes ma'am...I'm calling to schedule him for his procedure.
LOW VOICE: I believe you're calling about my appointment.
ME: Oh, are you Atell?
LOW VOICE: Yes.
ME: Oh....I'm sorry again...

So let me get this straight, first I call this poor woman SIR because she has a voice like a tranny, and then I proceed to allude to the fact that her name sounds like a man's name! HA!

Great.....I love this job.....can't wait to see who I can insult tomorrow!!
